What is the Butler County Tax Collection Committee
The Butler County Tax Collection Committee (BCTCC) is the governing body of the Butler County Tax Collection District.
The District was created under PA Act 32 of 2008 that required the consolidation of earned income tax (EIT) collection across the Commonwealth from 560 collectors to 69 collectors. The Act also requires ALL EMPLOYERS in the state to withhold the earned income tax from every employee that resides in Pennsylvania according to the tax rate of the employee's residence, and remit that withholding to the Tax Collection Agency for the county where that employer is located.
The Butler District represents 71 political subdivisions, which consists of 8 school districts, 25 boroughs, 37 townships and 1 city, that are within Butler County and the Freeport Area School District that also serves residents in Armstrong County,as the majority of that School District is located in Butler County, and the municipalities that are within Freeport Area School District which are located in Armstrong County, those being Freeport Borough and South Buffalo Township.
